(Niagara Falls, NY) His nickname on the streets is ‘Doctor Feel Good.’ He is also known as the ‘Pill Doctor’ to thousands of his patients. But the good times may be over for ‘Dr. Feel Good’ as a task force of law enforcement agents arrested him today at his offices in Niagara Falls.
73-year old Dr. Pravin Mehta MD was among fourteen people charged as part of a major prescription drug investigation.
According to the US Attorney’s Office, patients could see Dr. Mehta and get a prescription if they paid $85 in cash. Police say that many of the narcotic pain killers he was prescribing were being sold on the streets of Western New York for up to $100 per pill.
Law enforcement also say Dr. Mehta was supplying prescription pain killers to dealers who sold the medicine illegally.
The most visible sign of the crack down came just after 9am Thursday. Heavily armed officers from the Niagara Falls Police Department working with the Drug Enforcement Agency raided Dr. Pravin Mehta’s offices at 550 Main Street in Niagara Falls.
The doctor was taken into custody as well as his office manager. Police say so far they have arrested twelve of the fourteen people they are looking for.
Named ‘Operation Whatever U Want’, agents from the US Attorney’s office, the Drug Enforcement Agency, Niagara Falls Police, Internal Revenue Service, Niagara County Sheriff’s, and the New York State Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, executed the warrants.
Dr. Mehta was arraigned in US Federal Court in Buffalo. He faces 20-years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Also, his DEA registration was suspended prohibiting him from possessing, dispensing, or prescribing a controlled substances.

Human nature is to do only what makes us feel good and avoid what makes us feel bad.
I believe that much preaching today is like Dr. “feel good”. It focuses on how people feel instead of what they must do.
The answer does’t always feel good. “What must I do to be saved”? If a person needs a quadruple bypass they don’t fix it by going to Disney land.
Charles Finney said “Christainty is something you do”.
We focus far too much about how we feel that on what we believe. Are we seeking to medicate ourslelvs with religion that just makes us feel Good or are we declaring moratoriums on our emotions?
