Heaven the Ultimate Recycling

Behold, I am making all things new. Revelation 21:5 (ESV)

D.L Moody once said Soon you will read in the newspaper that I am dead. Don’t believe it for a moment. I will be more alive than ever before. Moody was looking forward to a new greater reality.

Heaven is a reminder that the Best is Yet to Come. That we have much to look forward to. Paul looked forward when he wrote:

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:1825 (ESV)

Heaven means that God has not abandoned his original plan concerning man and the earth. Everything God does is redemptive (Life giving and hopeful). Everything lost in Eden will be restored. A promise that this will happen can be found in Habakkuk

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14

Heaven is an assigned place. Jesus said, In my Fathers house are many rooms. I am going there to prepare a place for you (John 14:2).  After Adam and Eve sinned in Eden they lost the place God created for them. Eden and the whole universe for that matter was tainted by sin.

Randy Alcorn observed a conviction held by many Church forefathers. They believed that Heaven and earth are symbols of the entire universe. Think about it. The universe will have a makeover. The law of atrophy seen in Romans will cease. For the creation was subjected to futility Rom 8:20. And the law renewal will reign.

Rev 21: 5 Behold, I am making all things new

It seems lately that our world is convulsing in agony because of sin. The latest earthquake in Japan among many others tells us there is something happening. Something beyond the usual catastrophes.

At the writing of this blog a record 240 tornadoes have ripped through 6 states in America so far this April. A meteorologist has pointed out that typically these areas see 160 tornadoes in April. Paul said it well. “all creation groans.”

The good news is that Eden along with the universe will be resurrected in the “New Earth”. John saw this resurrection in Revelations 21.

Heaven however is more than a place, it’s a state of heart. One of the greatest deceptions is that heaven is a place everyone will go to someday no matter what their hearts condition is.

You can only go if you have the nature to live there. Just like Astronauts endure years of training to acquire the ability to live in space, so does the believer Aguirre the nature now to live in Gods new world later. Heaven begins now. Heaven is more than a place, it is a quality of life you begin learning here on earth

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, Philippians 3:1921 (ESV)
